Northern Light

By John Delonas

O, Ray serene,
Northern light,
December night;
Leaves crisp and sere,
And from the depths
Of the frost
I see you borne
On the orphan cold,
That racks the frame
With strange fevers,
Longing for the coolness,
The chilling calm
Of your beauty,
Burying me
In rings of white,
In rings of white
And Yuletide bells.
