Plato The Pig
By John Delonas
How desperately vast
Is the loneliness I live.
The peopled plain is
Creatureless for me.
I should seek a mate
From the same slime
That oozed my other self.
I should sprawl in mud
With a thing
As foul as me . . .
Nay! The sport is
To dunk an Ariel
In the bog of Caliban.
For the unnecessary is
The only (and delightful)
Sin.
