To Nadia

By John Delonas

Once in a while,
Melancholy comes,
More than I can bear --
Then out of the gloom
There shines a happy smile,
Sweet rainbow fair;
You are here with me in this drab room.

In the night,
Stellar eyes brightly shone,
Translucent light
For me alone.
Memories soft and flowery,
In a desert garden,
Moonlight Houri,
Centuries flew
In silent reverie,
Spent with you in mental rendezvous;
Then slowly fades the light,
Left alone in the night;
Happy in thoughts that soon I will see
Not a dream-born seraphic sight --
But a lovely reality.
Wait too
and dream of me.
